Established in 1917, Amir A’alam Hospital is the second oldest hospital in Tehran, following Sina Hospital. Initially founded as a maternity hospital, it evolved significantly over the years. In 1944, the hospital was restructured under the guidance of Dr. Amir A’alam to focus on Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialties. Since then, the hospital has undergone extensive expansion and modernization, becoming a comprehensive medical facility with a broad range of educational and clinical departments.

As of 2017, Amir A’alam Hospital Complex encompasses several specialized departments, including:

  • Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT): Advanced care for conditions affecting these areas.
  • Internal Medicine: Covering cardiology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, endocrinology, hematology, oncology, nephrology, pulmonology, neurology, and infectious diseases.
  • General Surgery: Offering a wide range of surgical interventions.
  • Plastic Surgery: Specialized procedures for aesthetic and reconstructive needs.
  • Pathology: Diagnostic services for disease identification.
  • Radiology: Comprehensive imaging services.
  • Anesthesiology: Safe and effective anesthesia management.

The hospital complex consists of multiple buildings:

  • New Amir A’alam Building: Located on Sa’adi Street, this building houses modern facilities and is designed to accommodate a wide range of medical services.
  • Old Amir A’alam Building: Also situated on Sa’adi Street, it continues to serve as a key part of the hospital’s infrastructure.
  • Marvasti Hospital: Positioned on Neufe le Chateau Street, this facility complements the main hospital complex.

Amir A’alam Hospital Complex is equipped with:

  • 350 Inpatient Beds: Providing comprehensive care for a large number of patients.
  • 39 Beds for Special Patients: Dedicated to those requiring specialized attention.
  • 20 Emergency Beds: For urgent and critical care.
  • 17 Operating Room Beds: Supporting a wide array of surgical procedures.
  • 28 ICU Beds: For intensive care needs.
  • 11 CCU Beds: Catering to cardiac care patients.

In the first six months of 2017 alone, the hospital’s emergency department saw over 60,000 visits, with more than 8,000 patients being admitted across various medical wards.

International patients are accommodated in dedicated areas: the 7th floor of the New Amir A’alam Building, known as the Sadaf Ward, and the 2nd floor of Marvasti Hospital. This specialization ensures tailored care for patients from abroad, reflecting the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality, accessible healthcare services.
