Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN)

An obstetrician/gynecologist (OB/GYN) is a medical specialist who focuses on women’s reproductive health and childbirth. OB/GYNs provide comprehensive care for women from adolescence through menopause, addressing a wide range of issues related to the reproductive system. They are involved in managing pregnancies, performing deliveries, and handling complications associated with childbirth.

In addition to obstetrics, OB/GYNs address gynecological concerns such as menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, contraception, and menopause. They conduct routine screenings like Pap smears and breast exams to detect early signs of disease. OB/GYNs also perform surgical procedures including hysterectomies, laparoscopies, and endometrial ablations. Their role is crucial in providing preventive care, managing reproductive health, and supporting women through various life stages.
