Caesarean (C-section)

A Caesarean section, commonly known as a C-section, is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby through incisions in the mother’s abdomen and uterus. It is typically performed when a vaginal delivery would put the baby or mother at risk. Common indications for a C-section include prolonged labor, fetal distress, placenta previa, breech presentation, and multiple pregnancies. The procedure involves making an incision in the lower abdomen, followed by another incision in the uterus. The baby is then delivered through these incisions. Recovery from a C-section usually takes longer than recovery from a vaginal birth, with a typical hospital stay of 3 to 4 days.
