Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) is a technique used during in-vitro fertilization (IVF) to screen embryos for genetic conditions and select the sex of the embryo before implantation. PGS involves the removal of one or more cells from an embryo to test for chromosomal abnormalities and specific genetic disorders. This technique can also determine the sex of the embryo, allowing parents to choose the gender of their future child. PGS is often used by couples with a history of genetic disorders, older parents, or those with repeated IVF failures to increase the chances of a successful pregnancy and healthy baby.
