Liver Biopsy

A liver biopsy is a medical procedure used to obtain a small sample of liver tissue for diagnostic examination. This procedure helps in evaluating liver disease, assessing the extent of liver damage, and determining the cause of abnormal liver function tests. The biopsy can be performed using different methods, including percutaneous (through the skin), transjugular (through a vein in the neck), or laparoscopic (through small abdominal incisions). The collected tissue is analyzed under a microscope to diagnose conditions such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver cancer. Liver biopsy is a crucial tool for guiding treatment decisions and monitoring liver health.
