Ovarian Cyst

An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac that forms on or within an ovary. Ovarian cysts are common and can vary in size, shape, and type. Most ovarian cysts are benign and asymptomatic, often resolving on their own without treatment. However, some cysts can cause symptoms such as pelvic pain, bloating, irregular menstrual cycles, or discomfort during intercourse. There are several types of ovarian cysts, including functional cysts, which occur as part of the normal menstrual cycle, and pathological cysts, which may result from abnormal cell growth. In some cases, large or persistent cysts may require medical intervention to alleviate symptoms or prevent complications. Treatment options depend on the cyst’s size, type, and impact on the patient’s health. Approaches may include monitoring the cyst with periodic ultrasound exams, hormonal treatments to regulate menstrual cycles, or surgical removal if necessary. Prompt evaluation and management by a healthcare provider are essential to ensure appropriate care and prevent potential complications.
