Established in 1934, this hospital has grown significantly since its inception. Originally named Shahreza Hospital, it was initially equipped with just 100 beds and a range of medical departments. The foundation of Imam Reza Hospital was laid on a 28.5-hectare site, with construction commencing in 1928. By 1934, the hospital began operations with a variety of departments including internal medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, pediatrics, infectious diseases, and more. Over the years, the facility has undergone substantial growth:

  • Early Developments: In 1945, the hospital saw the opening of its Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) building. By 1948, the capacity had increased to 250 beds.
  • Expansion: Today, the hospital operates with 856 beds, making it one of the largest general hospitals in the country.
