Dr. Mehran Zarei Ghanavati is a distinguished ophthalmologist and cornea subspecialist, celebrated for his exceptional contributions to the field of eye care. His journey in medicine began at Mashhad Medical School, where he excelled academically, securing a top position with a single-digit rank and graduating first in his class. His academic prowess continued through three national examinations—basic sciences, pre-internship, and assistant exams—where he consistently ranked first in the country, culminating in his graduation from ophthalmology with a distinguished rank in the specialized board.
In 2011, Dr. Zarei achieved international recognition by winning first place in a global competition organized by the World Ophthalmology Association, outshining over two thousand ophthalmologists. This accolade earned him the prestigious Peter Watson Award at the World Ophthalmology Congress and a $25,000 scholarship for advanced training in corneal subspecialty, known as the Helmerich Award.
Dr. Zarei is a faculty member and associate professor at Tehran University, where he imparts his extensive knowledge to residents and corneal fellows.
