Cataract

Cataract is a common eye condition characterized by the clouding of the eye’s natural lens, leading to impaired vision. This condition often develops gradually and can significantly affect daily activities by causing blurred vision, glare, and decreased night vision.

Cataracts are typically associated with aging, but they can also be caused by genetic factors, trauma, or certain medical conditions.

Treatment primarily involves surgical intervention, which is highly effective and involves the removal of the cloudy lens and its replacement with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). The surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis, and modern techniques, such as phacoemulsification, make the procedure minimally invasive with a rapid recovery time.

Post-surgery, most patients experience significant improvement in vision and a return to their normal activities. Regular eye exams are crucial for early detection and management of cataracts to ensure optimal outcomes.
