Dental Sealant

Dental sealant is a preventive treatment designed to protect the teeth from cavities and decay. Sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars), where cavities are most likely to form. The sealant material, typically made from a clear or white resin, bonds to the tooth enamel and forms a barrier that prevents food particles and bacteria from entering the grooves and fissures of the teeth.

The application process is quick and painless. The dentist will clean and dry the teeth, apply a mild acid to etch the surface, and then apply the sealant material. The sealant is hardened with a special light, creating a protective layer. Dental sealants are particularly beneficial for children and teenagers, as they are more prone to cavities in their molars. Regular dental check-ups ensure that sealants remain intact and effective, contributing to long-term dental health and cavity prevention.
