Implantable Corneal Lenses

Implantable corneal lenses, also known as phakic intraocular lenses (IOLs), are a surgical option for correcting refractive errors in patients who are not ideal candidates for LASIK or PRK. These lenses are implanted into the eye, in front of the natural lens, without removing the natural lens. They are designed to treat moderate to severe nearsightedness (myopia) and sometimes farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism. The procedure is typically quick, and recovery time is relatively short. Implantable corneal lenses offer a reversible and adjustable solution for vision correction, providing an alternative for those with thin corneas or other conditions that preclude laser eye surgery. The lenses can significantly improve vision quality, reducing or eliminating the need for glasses or contact lenses.
