LASIK & PRK

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) and PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) are popular laser eye surgeries used to correct refractive errors such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. Both procedures reshape the cornea to allow light entering the eye to be properly focused onto the retina, thereby improving vision. LASIK involves creating a thin flap in the cornea, lifting it to apply the laser to the underlying corneal tissue, and then repositioning the flap. PRK, on the other hand, removes the outer layer of the cornea before reshaping the underlying tissue. PRK is often recommended for patients with thin corneas or those who are not suitable candidates for LASIK. Both procedures have high success rates and can significantly reduce or eliminate the need for corrective lenses. Recovery from LASIK is typically quicker, while PRK may involve a slightly longer healing period. Both procedures offer long-term benefits and have been widely used to enhance visual acuity and improve quality of life.
